Start a local server

Build and start Chronacta using the instructions in the chronacta/chronacta repository.

Choose a persistent data directory and confirm that a local client can connect. Keep the development instance isolated from untrusted networks.

Append and read

Create a stream with an initial event, read its version, and append a second event with that expected version.

Repeat an append with an outdated version and inspect the conflict. Read the stream from the beginning and from a later position using the documented API semantics.

Process events

Attach a subscription and append another event. Then create a consumer that retains progress and updates a small read model.

Restart the consumer, test duplicate delivery, and rebuild the read model from the beginning with a separate or reset processing position.

Continue with the documentation

Use the CLI and Go SDK references for exact calls. Read the operations guides before configuring security, backups, or production consumers.

Practical exercise

Complete four checks: a successful append, a version conflict, a resumed consumer, and a rebuilt read model.
